| YOU ARE ENTERING THE GIRL TALK THREAD
Caitlin and I decided over the phone to start this thread. Just because our conversations on other threads regarding corny movies and actors seem unappreciated. Obviously, anyone, not just girls, can post. But with forewarning that topics will be a bit rosy-hued. There is no need to start a Guy Talk thread as this entire forum--guns, cars, video games--is rather slanted toward the male demographic... Caitlin, what shall we talk about? Clothes? Hygiene? Actors? Local gossip? What's on your mind?

Video Games? Yeah right. I haven't played a video game in about four months. In fact i have not a one on this computer.

| But until then....Where to begin? I had a question for you Hannah, and it's a good way to start this thread. Why did you say that strapless dresses are horribly unappealing? I must have missed that. Every gal I've seen in one has looked okay, (except for this one REALLY big, REALLY gross gal I know. She should have used duct-tape to hold that dress up! Ick, still scarrred). I always thought a v-neck cut is appealing on any girl, it just enhances the neck and shoulders in a very flattering way. But you'd have to have your arms uncovered, otherwise it looks like you're not comfortable. And what's the perfect color for a brides-maid dress? I was thinking about that earlier today. Lavender maybe? Girly enough for you? | |

| Easy. Straps flatter the upper arms, neck, and shoulders. It's like putting a stripe through a square in an abstract painting--it breaks up the visual. In a strapless dress anyone who is not extremely thin looks bulgy, from what I've seen. If you are extremely thin, you look rather board-like because strapless dresses are not very supportive. Plus a strapless dress has to be pulled up constantly.
It's not that everyone looks outright BAD in them, but they can always look better.
I agree, a V-neck is the most flattering across the board. I still don't know what body type turtle necks are supposed to look good with. But as for arms uncovered, I think cup-sleeves, or sheer sleeves can be cute. (But I think you're thinking about bridesmaid dresses, which are usually sleevless. I was thinking more about formalwear in general) Square-necks are also very bridesmaid-esque, but not as flattering to all bodytypes.
As for color, I always like black and white, to emphasize the flowers. A lot of people don't look good in purple. But it depends on who your bridesmaids are.

| I think (from a guys point of view...duh.) that both types of dresses can look good but ones with straps look better and the best color for a brides-maid dress is light blue. | |

| .....No offense to your "sister-in-law's" choice of color Josh, but i would rather elope than be stuck with bridesmaid dresses that color. I think someone told her that "neutral" colors were the way to go, probably joyce. Anyway, don't repeat that, i don't want anyone to feel insulted. Black? All i can picture is those idiot girls at dances that buy their dresses from Hot Topic....ick. They look like they're getting ready to put on a strip-tease. I like the light-blue idea, but doesn't that seem a little cliche? Kind of gives off an, "It's a boy!" vibe. What about some sort of pastel color? Peach, fushia, (or however you spell that) LAVENDER, *hint hint, wink wink* or another shade of light purple I though would look nice. If you had to go dark though, it should be dark-blue. And I saw THE PERFECT dress on a comercial, it was v-neck, white, but the "v" started at the top of the shoulders. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! I'll try and find a picture of it. And what about a train on the dress? Pretty, but hazzardeous if you forget it's there. | |

Okay, okay, everyone. Beth's bridesmaids' dresses were not teal, nor were they neutral. The right term is sage green. While I would not, personally, have chosen the color, I thought it matched the simplicity-theme of the wedding well. - Quote :

Ah, okay. Good point. I was thinking more that black was the most flattering color for the bridesmaids and would emphasize the dress and flowers. But you're probably right. - Quote :

True. It would depend on the bridesmaids. If they were all strawberry blonde, for example. Now, the worst thing would be to have light blue tuxes. Sick. - Quote :

I would leave the pastel tones for the flowers, personally. Peach-colored roses, etc. Pastel tends to drain people with pale skin and dark hair, not really thinking of anyone specific.... - Quote :
- LAVENDER, *hint hint, wink wink*
Sorry, Caitlin. I don't really want to marry you. - Quote :

I'm all for darks. Dark red, dark blue, dark greens. But it's not really that big of a deal in my mind. My cousin had a wedding with deep, dark blue dresses and peach roses and baby's breath. Very classy. - Quote :

Your spelling of hazardous is pretty hazardous, imo. I don't really think about trains, I think they're sort of superfluous. But whatever. I personally don't care about the minor details--my wedding could be potluck for all I care. The main thing is that the groom has really nice sleeves.

Nice sleeves??? Yeah, what's the difference between ugly sleeves and nice sleeves? I just thought that sleeves were sleeves.

I just thought that sleeves were sleeves. Sleeves were sleeves?! Ooooh, that's all that really matters when it comes to the groom, well, that and the right kind of vest. I hate it when the groom looks like he stepped out of the godfather. I believe I shall leave this opening for Hannah to rave in, she's the one who loves the sleeves......but you guys have NO idea what you've stepped in. (Find a photo if you can Hannah, it's sure to have a handsome guy modeling the "sleeve". ) And you just like the idea of black bridesmaid dresses because eventually your going to be stuck wearing one....well forget it Hannah! At my wedding you'll all be in BRIGHT BLINDING YELLOW!!! BWAH HA HA!! *full body shiver* God, that image even scared me.

| You guys are HILARIOUS! I'm sitting in a public computer lab just giggling at all the input! Caitlin, I would rather die than wear a yellow ANYTHING, especially a dress. If you want yellow at your wedding you're gonna have to have Anna Dennis as your maid of honor, cuz I'm out of there. - Quote :

Too true. Haven't you guys heard me define perfect sleeves? Jeez, I talk about this all the time. See what you learn on (da da daaa!) The GIRL TALK thread? - Quote :

Was "sleeve" a typo, Caitlin? I usually prefer a man with two. Unless, of course, you were thinking of a certain dark and shady greasy-haired individual from a certain nerdy movie who can't seem to keep track of them both. And I will not be providing a photo, as I do not have my DVDs with me, and I don't want to creep out the boys with my weirdness.

Ha ha!....Yeah....I hate that that made me laugh. Atleast he had a little muscle though, and someone thought to cover his exposed arm with mud so it would match the rest of his skin tone. But that part always did make me laugh a little, it was like, they had to keep it PG, but they wanted to show some skin. So right before action, "Oh wait! Wait a minute, I know what we can do!....RIIIIPPP!!" And like I was REALLY serious about the yellow, ICK! And I would NEVER have Anna as a bridesmaid....but then, you knew that. Well miss "smart pants", what color do YOU think I should go with?
